Dear Miles Parents & Guardians,

I am optimistically excited to welcome you to the 20-21 school year.  As we press forward during these uncertain times, I wanted to reach out to you with the reassurance that Miles ISD will be going the extra mile to care for your child’s transportation services.  While social distancing will be practiced on each campus, we cannot offer it on the school buses.  With such a small fleet, we would need to make far too many rounds to get every child to school in a timely and efficient manner.  With that in mind, you may consider transporting your child to and from school if you are able to do so.  For those of you who will be using the school bus, the following guidelines will be in place:

* Each school bus will be disinfected by the driver on a daily basis.

* Every child, including ages 10 and under will be required to wear a mask while on the bus.  We must take every viable step to protect your child along with his/her peers and our staff members.

* Each school bus driver will be equipped with a non-contact temperature-scanning device.    As your child boards the bus, their temperature will be checked.  If your child has a temperature that is higher than normal, they will be asked to return home. If your child is an elementary grade student, please remain within sight of the bus until it has pulled away from your child’s designated stop.  Miles ISD does not release elementary grade students off the bus unsupervised.

As we implement these new practices, I expect the timing of your child’s pick-up will be fluid for the first few days of school.  Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated as we settle into this routine.

As always, please feel free to contact your campus administrator or myself if you have questions or concerns.  Bulldog Pride!!

Sincerely,

Clint Askins
