Name: Sarah Crouch

Years on staff: 15 Years

Position: Elementary School Guidance Counselor

Hometown: Ballinger

Briefly explain your job: As a School Counselors, I serve as an advocate for all students to maximize motivation, engagement, and achievement while celebrating and respecting the diversity of all. I commit to proactively monitoring and empowering students and families by facilitating support systems throughout the academic career of each student to ensure high levels of success within the school, community, and world.

What does a typical day look like for you?  My typical day begins by preparing the filming of the Miles Elementary Morning Show. Then I go outside to welcome students and families to school. The rest of my day is filled with individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom guidance counseling, meetings with teachers and families, and lots of paperwork. My favorite time of the day is visiting with all students during lunch, a time filled with smiles and laughter and when I can get to know all of the amazing things about each of them.

What do you enjoy most about your job? I am so blessed to be the School Counselor at Miles Elementary! My favorite part of my job is discovering the amazing talents that each child is gifted with and watching them grow over the years into amazing people. Each of them is so special and important to me!

What is the hardest part of your job? The most difficult part of my job is having enough time to accomplish all that I need and want to.

Advice to parents?  What I would love to share with parents is that children are such an amazing gift. Ensuring that they grow in the best environment and are challenged in the appropriate ways to grow them in their strengths can be difficult, but we are in it together. Research has shown that children will aspire to achieve what we believe of them, so helping them realize their potential and providing them with opportunities to learn and challenge them will ensure their success.

What is unique about Miles ISD? The staff at Miles ISD truly loves every child. We pray for them, cry for them, and celebrate for them. Our school is focused on growing every child into an amazing person! There is nothing we celebrate more than watching our kids grow into amazing adults that can go out and bless the world around them.

What makes you hopeful? The love that is in our school and community makes me hopeful for the future.
