Where have you taught? Miles
Why did you choose education? Education was not my first choice in life, or even my second. I joined the Army right after high school. Once out, I opened my own personal training business, then decided it was time to use my GI Bill from the military. That is when I chose education. It has truly been the best decision. Describe your favorite teacher? Mr. Wilson. He wasn’t my teacher but he was the Assistant Dean of my high school. He was able to create a relationship with all his students. He touched many lives and made a lasting impression on each of us. I can only hope to be half of what he was. What is the best part of teaching? Watching students learn to love a subject that they normally didn’t like or understand.
What does success look like in your classroom? Success in the classroom is all about the relationships made.
What is unique about Miles ISD? Because it’s so small, we are able to truly get to know our students. You don’t get that in the bigger schools.
Advice to parents: It’s okay for them to fail at something. Let them learn to fix their mistakes.
Most memorable teaching moment? Just about every day my second period scares me somehow, usually when I am carrying coffee. I enjoy these moments the most because of how much fun they have thinking of creative ways to get me! They are getting pretty good at it.
Favorite Quote: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1 . Attitude is everything, so pick a good one.
Hobbies: I’m not sure what hobbies are! I don’t have much time to do extra. I really enjoy watching my kids in their sports.
Favorite snack: I don’t have a favorite, but chips and hot salsa would be up there.
Favorite book: I have enjoyed the Left Behind Series.
Ideal vacation: I love the water! So anywhere I can be on it is ideal to me.
