What does a typical workday look like for you?
I wear many hats at Miles Elementary.
I write a newsletter that goes home to parents. It highlights positive things about our campus.
For example, the PE department was one month, the Music department was one month and this month we are focusing on the Counselor. It also talks about upcoming events...
I answer thousands of questions a day like: Do I have to wear a mask? Where is Mr. McKneely?
The copy machine has an error message, can you call somebody? Will you call my mom, I forgot my water bottle?
I also run lots of reports, take attendance, enroll and withdraw children and help out wherever I can.
What is the best part of your job? The laughter is number one. The compassion for children I see in every staff member. The support I get from my principal.
What is unique about Miles ISD? I have worked in 4 school districts and Miles is by far the most UNIQUE in a way that every child has a voice, and every staff member has a voice.
Advice to parents: Listen very carefully to what the teachers are saying about your child's academic progress.
What brings you joy? My grandchildren
